Indian Army SSC Technical Officer Recruitment 2025 (66th SSC Tech Men & 37th SSC Tech Women)

Overview

The Indian Army has announced the 66th Short Service Commission (Technical) Course for Men and the 37th SSC (Technical) Course for Women. These entries provide an opportunity for engineering graduates and widows of defence personnel to join the Army as commissioned officers.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

• Citizen of India, subject of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugee (pre-Jan 1, 1962), or persons of Indian origin as specified.

Age Limit (as on 1 April 2026)

Education Qualification

• SSC Tech (Men/Women): BE/BTech in notified engineering streams; candidates in their final year may apply but must complete the degree by 1 April 2026.

• Widows (Non-Tech): Graduation in any discipline.

• Widows (Tech): BE/BTech in any engineering stream.

Marital Status

• For regular entries: Must be unmarried.

• For widow entry: Eligible regardless of current marital status.

Selection Process

1. Screening/Shortlisting:

   • Based on marks in the engineering degree and discipline-specific cut-off marks; vacancies are discipline-wise.

2. SSB Interview (Services Selection Board):

   • Five-day assessment at designated SSB centers—includes psychological tests, group activities, and a personal interview.

   • Two stages:

     • Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test, Picture Perception, and Description Test (PPDT)

     • Stage II: Psychological test, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks, personal interview

3. Medical Examination:

   • Required for candidates who clear SSB

4. Merit List:

   • Prepared based on SSB performance and medical fitness.

   • Only those in the final merit list (based on available vacancies) will get joining letters.

Training and Commission

• Location: Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai

• Duration: 49 weeks (about 1 year)

• Rank on Commissioning: Lieutenant

• Stipend During Training: ₹56,100/month

• Salary after Commissioning: Approximately ₹17–18 lakh CTC per annum (plus medical cover and other allowances)
